You’re Pregnant, Where Do You Start?
You're pregnant. You want to move. Where do you start?
Pregnancy brings a lot of questions. Your workout routine doesn’t have to be one of them.
Maybe you’ve heard that staying active during pregnancy can be beneficial. Maybe you’re wondering if it’s safe, what kind of exercise is right for you, or whether you need to be an experienced exerciser to begin.
At FIT4MOM East DuPage West Cook, we believe you deserve support as you navigate this new season. We offer prenatal fitness options designed to help you move with confidence, connect with other expecting moms, and find an approach that fits your life.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. Let’s start here.
Is exercise safe during pregnancy?
The short answer: For many pregnancies, yes.
For people with healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies, regular physical activity is generally considered safe and beneficial. Exercise can help support cardiovascular fitness, ease some common pregnancy discomforts, and contribute to overall well-being.
But pregnancy is different for everyone. Your medical history, stage of pregnancy, and individual circumstances matter.
Before beginning a new workout routine, talk with your OB-GYN or prenatal care provider. They can help you understand whether exercise is appropriate for you, what activities to choose, and whether you need any specific modifications or restrictions.
If you’re new to exercise, you don’t (and shouldn't) have to jump into an intense routine. A gradual, supported approach can be a great place to begin.

What kind of prenatal workout is right for me?
You don’t have to figure that out alone.
Pregnancy changes your body, and your workout may need to change with it. At FIT4MOM EDWC, our instructors are trained to coach moms through different stages of motherhood and offer exercise modifications when appropriate. We follow ACOG's recommendations and continually train to keep up to date on the latest research and recommendations about prenatal exercise.
We’ll help you find options that fit your current abilities and comfort level, whether that means adjusting an exercise, choosing a lower-impact option, or taking a break when you need one.
You are never expected to keep up with someone else. Your pregnancy, your body, and your experience are your own.
Our goal is to help you feel supported, not pressured.
Important note: Instructor modifications are not a substitute for medical advice or clearance. Please follow your healthcare provider’s recommendations and let your instructor know you’re pregnant before class.
While all of our classes can be modified to be prenatal friendly, we offer two classes focused on prenatal movement and community at FIT4MOM East DuPage West Cook. Both welcome expecting moms, but they offer different experiences.
