How Prenatal Fitness Helped Me Find My Strength (and My Village)

I know it’s stating the obvious but pregnancy changes your life. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I didn’t know many other women also going through pregnancy. Everyone around me was so supportive, but I still had a million questions and felt alone in what I was going through.

And physically I felt so disconnected from my body.

I had always considered myself an active person, I was taking regular dance and group fitnesses classes. I knew during pregnancy that I was supposed to stay active, and that I really should stay active but, honestly, it was so hard. My body was changing, my routines felt different, and I wasn’t sure where I fit anymore.

Fast forward a few years to my second pregnancy. I found FIT4MOM and FIT4BABY, and everything changed.

FIT4BABY is more than just a prenatal workout. It’s a safe, welcoming space where every stretch, breath, and movement honors your body exactly as it is that day. I learned how to stay active in a way that felt supportive instead of stressful. I reconnected with my body, felt stronger and more confident, and started to truly enjoy the journey again. I loved that the movements were so familiar to me, blending prenatal yoga with strength training and cardio endurance, and tailored for my changing body.

But the biggest surprise wasn’t the workout. It was the community.

Each week, I showed up to class and found moms who were in a similar season of life. Women who understood the ups and downs, the excitement and the exhaustion. We shared stories, swapped advice, and reminded each other that we weren’t alone. Whether it was someone's first pregnancy or fourth, we always had so much to discuss every class.

That feeling of connection inspired me so deeply that I decided to become a FIT4MOM instructor while I was still pregnant! I wanted other moms to experience the same transformation I did: the strength, the belonging, and the sense of peace that comes from moving your body in community.

Now, when I lead classes through FIT4MOM East DuPage West Cook, I see that same spark in other moms, the moment they realize this is more than a workout. It’s a lifeline. It’s a village. It’s a reminder that motherhood was never meant to be done alone.

If you’ve been looking for a way to stay active, meet other moms, and feel supported through every stage of pregnancy, I’d love for you to join us at our next FIT4BABY class in Clarendon Hills.

Come move, breathe, and find your village just like I did. 💛
